Christmas Weekend and Traditions // My Life

Hi again there – 3 posts in 1 week (It is more than I have posted the entire year), there we go!

The last weekend before Christmas is soon to arrive, so I found it appropriate to talk about my Christmas weekend last week + some of the Christmas traditions we usually have.

Food Adventure Prague - Trdelník (What?)

Day 1.

As I was walking around this market in Prague, while it was raining, I saw something I had never seen before. It looked like the bread I made when I was a scout. You know when you take the bread and twist it around a stick and bake it over campfire. I saw a lot of people eating this, mostly tourist, but I had to try it anyway.

Food Adventure (In London): THE BEST!

The best food I got, while I was in London, wasn't in Covent Garden, Oxford Street or any of the other fancy places in London. It was a street kitchen on Portobello Road (Portobello Road is also a fancy place in London, but with delicious food!)

The best food I got was defiantly this grilled chicken salad with onions. It tastes even more yummy, than it looks!

As I was walking down Portobello Road, enjoying the atmosphere and how the rain drops silently hit the pavement I got tempted by all this delicious food. Hot Dogs, ribs, falafels, crêpes, coffee shops, noodles. I wasn't hungry, so I kept walking, until I saw this nice lady grilling chicken and it smelled like a big barbecue party in the middle of july! I quickly became hungry! You could get it as a sandwich or as salad. You might know, I have this weird love for bread, but at that time I just wanted some real vegetables after eating so much fried food. I don't regret it!

I began raining a lot, just after I'd bought the salad, so I found shelter under a roof. While standing there eating my chicken salad and watching the rain falling in London, I felt really happy. Everything just seemed so right. H. C. Andersen was right. To travel is to live.

Later, when the rain got really bad and my jacket was soaked in water, I seeked shelter in a coffee shop, where I sat for an hour drinking coffee and reading (So hipster, I know... lol).

If you're ever going to London, drinking coffee and eating on Portobello Road is a MUST!

Joe & The Juice

Have you ever been on Joe & The Juice?

Joe & The Juice is a juice bar (No shit, Sherlock?) with delicious juices, shakes, sandwiches, coffee and now also salads.

Joe and The Juice have stores in United Kingdom, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, thirty stores in Denmark and they are also rumored to come to The States soon! If you ever come across a Joe & The Juice, you need to try their sandwich! It's a bit pricy (Depends on how many billions you have on your bank account), so it's not something you can eat every day, but you're also allowed to treat yourself sometimes!

They just opened a store close to my dance studio, and I'm totally fine with that!

My favourite sandwich is defiantly the "Tunacado" with tuna mousse and avocado, and the  "Spicy Tuna" with tuna mousse, jalapeños and tabasco. My favourite juice is the "Hell of a Nerve" with strawberry, banana and elderflower.

The juicebar is great and I would love to work there (If it wasn't because they only hire hot guys - Not that, it's a problem with hot guys behind the counter - I don't complain!), but it doesn't beat my love for coffee shops. Of course it depends on the person, but I'm more a coffee/tea-person.

They just began making salads, and I really want to try the crayfish salad next time I'm there.

Food Adventure: Andersen's Bakery

Trying to translate: "In 1962 Andersen began as the first in Japan to introduce pastries and bread after original, danish recipes. The craft has been developed, the recipes refined, but with the same base. Love to the danish art of baking." Something like that...

As you might know I really like bread. All types of bread (Except toast, which tastes like plastic in my opinion). So I went to Andersen's Bakery, and got this bun made with rye. I took it as takeaway since I don't want to pay extra to be sitting at the bakery, when they were almost closing.

Food Adventure: The Fancy Copenhagen Food Market

I went to the popular fancy food market in Copenhagen (Torvehallerne - Link down below)
The food market in Copnehagen is divided into two halls, where famous danish restaurants have small stalls. I believe the concept was to gather a lot of quality restaurants, where people can get to taste a bit of different kinds of food. It's like all the good food in one place! You can get everything from pizza to sushi to soup to cheese to tapas to traditional danish food AND CHOCOLATEURRGHUUM. If you love food, there's no doubt you'll love this place too.

I got salted cashews and almonds from Gorm's and a bun made with rye, oats and cranberries from Granny's House. It tasted SO good! Of course this is my favourite place to eat, but I'll admit, not everything is cheap there, but definitely worth it. It's good, expensive and it's quality. I don't mind paying for quality.

Where to find?
Frederiksborggade 21
1360 København K

It's hall no. 2
Gorm's: H1 and G1
Granny's House: D10

Website (Only in Danish): www.torvehallernekbh.dk

PS. The reason why I didn't eat pizza is not because I'm on some kind of fancy diet. I really dislike pizza, and I know a lot of people literally love pizza. Everytime I meet new people and I tell them I don't like pizza, they're like: .........Run......... It's an alien..... (But hey, I'm only 10% alien). I wish I liked pizza though, because it's weird being the odd man out, when people are buying pizza, but I like the pizza crust! ^___^

FYI: Not sponsered.

Food Adventure: Simply Chocolate - Sticks

Last weekend I went to Tivoli to see the Christmas decorations (There will be a post later with pictures), and it was freezing. So we accidently wanted to got inside this café to get something warm to drink, but when I saw the big Simply Chocolate sign, and that they sold chocolate covered strawberry sticks. I died. You can choose between marshmallow, banana, nougat, liquorice, strawberries and more. I chose strawberries and banana. Then you choose what type of chocolate. White-, dark- (60%) or milkchocolate. Personally I don't really like milk chocolate, so I had to go with dark. Lastly you choose want you want on top. You can choose between coconut, multicoloured sprinkles or nuts. A bit expensive in my opinion, but still worth the money, if you don't go there too often.

FYI: This is not a sponsered post, even though Simply Chocolate is welcome to send me all the chocolate they want. I wouldn't complain ^___^
